The 2010 Day at the Beach Triathlon was held on October 10th!
The Day at the Beach Triathlon at Hermosa Beach features a fun and safe, beginner-oriented course. The event starts with a cool, refreshing ocean swim (wetsuits are recommended). The swim is followed by a 10 mile bike course which begins by a small climb up Pier Ave. and then heads up Valley Dr. toward Manhattan Beach. The course is generally a smooth loop along Valley Dr. and Ardmore Ave. There will be lots of volunteers and it is always very well marked. The run is out-and-back courses with scenic ocean views, on paved roads. If you are a beginner this race is an excellent way to start in the sport of triathlon!

Description
SWIM: 1/4 mile ocean swim - Expect water temp 67°-70°
BIKE: 10 mile bike - 3 laps on a fun 3.3 mile rolling loop
RUN: 3 mile run - out and back on the strand.
Course Notes
SWIM: The 1/4 mile swim runs parallel to the beach. It starts and ends south of the pier. Pay careful attention to the race announcements and the information board for correct wave starts. Wetsuits are recommended. Water temp will be between 67-70 degrees.
BIKE: The 10 mile bike course begins by a small climb up Pier Ave. and then heads up Valley Dr. toward Manhattan Beach. The course is generally a smooth loop along Valley Dr. and Ardmore Ave. You will do three complete laps before coming back down Pier Ave. To avoid confusion a brightly colored board will be placed at the intersection of Pier Ave. and Valley Drive. DO NOT TURN DOWN PIER AVE. UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED 3 FULL LAPS. Please note: Use extreme caution on the bike. Valley and Ardmore are very narrow streets and passing will be difficult. However, passing outside of the cone line will results in an immediate disqualification."
RUN: The 3 mile run course is out and back north on The Strand. The run course is a paved run. Stay to your right on the run.
